Spanish star Carlos Alcaraz, 18, became the youngest player in the top 10 of the ATP world rankings on Monday since his compatriot Rafael Nadal did so in 2005 at the same age. Alcaraz climbed to ninth in the world by two places thanks to his victory over Pablo Carreno Busta in the Barcelona Open final on Sunday. Britain’s Cameron Norrie drops out of the top 10 to number 11. It was Alcaraz’s third title of the season, having won the Miami Masters at the beginning of the month and the Rio tournament in February.
Carreno Busta switches places with another Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut, the former climbs to 18th and the latter drops one spot to 19th.
Novak Djokovic is still at the top of the standings despite losing to Russian Andrey Rublev in the final of the Belgrade Open. Number two in the world Daniil Medvedev is out with a hernia problem.
