Former India-Slagman Aakash Chopra has encouraged the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to trade long-term all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, in the midst of his struggles to contribute this season with both Bat and Ball. The former CSK captain has only scored 280 points this season in 13 games, while he also claims only eight Wickets in the same duration. Chopra's comments came after CSK captain Mrs Dhoni claimed that the franchise is already investigating in the future because he was not eligible for the IPL play-offs in back-to-back seasons.
Dhoni insisted that CSK should be taken on their team combination with an eye on the next auction.
“Must find out which person will do well in which ending next year. Must work on our bowling. As soon as we were out of the tournament, we wanted to find the answers for the following year. The combination must investigate and a few players we can choose in the auction,” Dhoni admitted after the loss against Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday.
Chopra also suggested that CSK should release their Kiwi duo Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway and keep someone like a Dewald Brevis, who has done very well since he has been closed to the team as an injury replacement.
“I would say he probably exchanges him (Jadeja). You have Dewald Brevis if you number 4. Bat him at number 4. This is a stop-gap package with Devon Conway and Ayush Mhatre and Urvil Patel at 3. Chopra told Espncricinfo.
“Why would you want Ruturaj Gaikwad to go a blow with someone who is not going to hammer and tongs? Do you have Urvil Patel at 3 o'clock, I would rather have a man. Get a finisher or top order overseas batter with Dewald Brevis apart from Noor Ahmad and Matheesha Pathirana. Sam Curran on 3 and Jadeja.
