India’s Harjinder Kaur won a bronze medal at CWG 2022
Indian weightlifter Harjinder Kaur won a bronze medal with a combined weight of 212kg on Monday in the women’s 71kg final at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham. Nigerian hitchhiker Joy Ogbonne Eze was unsuccessful in all three attempts in the clean and jerk round, meaning Harjinder Kaur became India’s ninth medalist at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. England’s Sarah Davies won a gold medal.
Harjinder Singh was successful in all her attempts in the clean and jerk round. On her third attempt, she lifted 119 kg to bring her total to 212 kg (93 kg 119 kg).
On her first attempt in the Snatch category, Harjinder failed to lift 90kg. In the second attempt of the category, she finally lifted 90 kg. In her third and final attempt, she lifted 93 kg, reaching her personal best.

In the Clean and Jerk category, she successfully lifted 113 kg. In the second attempt of the category, she lifted 116 kg without breaking a sweat. She improved her last attempt and successfully lifted 119 kg.
Earlier on Day 3 of the Games, Indian weightlifter Jeremy Lalrinnunga took gold with a dominant performance in the 67kg men’s weightlifting. While Achinta Sheuli ended Day 3 on a high for India with gold in the 73kg event.
