The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Deepak Chahar as Avesh Khan’s replacement for Team India’s final match in the ongoing 2022 Asia Cup. “Avesh Khan is recovering from an illness and has been advised to rest by BCCI’s medical team,” stated an official statement. Avesh Khan didn’t have a very good Asian Cup. He was expensive in his two overs against Pakistan, ending with a 1/19 ban. In the next match against Hong Kong, the bowler had a terrible outing and the whole park was hit. He finished with terrible numbers of 1/53 in four overs.
Deepak Chahar was named as one of the standbys in the squad and had traveled to Dubai for the tournament.
India will face Afghanistan on Thursday in their final Super Four Asia Cup 2022 clash.
Currently, India is number three in the Super Four table with zero points and two defeats in two matches. They are out of contention for the final after Pakistan defeated Afghanistan by one wicket in a thriller on Wednesday.
