Colombia defeated a nine-man Tanzanian 3-0 on Saturday in the quarter-finals of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. With the win, the South Americans entered the flagship semi-final after four consecutive group stage exits, including in 2018. Colombia broke the first break in three minutes, with captain Linda Caicedo finding the back of the net.
The second goal came 13 minutes later, when a cross from Cristina Motta was headed into the goal from the left by Yesica Munoz.
Colombia added to Tanzania’s misery with a spot in the 32nd minute.

In the other quarterfinal of the day, Spain rallied to beat Japan 2-1 to reach the semifinals of the tournament.
Momoko Tanikawa gave Japan the lead with his 66th minute strike, but Vicky Lopez (87′ and 90 3) scored twice to seal the problem in his team’s favour.
