The Indian Sports Honors (ISH) is back with its fifth edition, aiming to showcase India's best athletes and their remarkable achievements from October 2023 to September 2024. The awards, conceptualized by Cornerstone Sport, celebrate achievements across a wide range of sports, including Olympic sports. , Paralympic sports, the Asian Games and the Commonwealth Games, along with cricket, squash and chess. This year's event will follow a detailed selection process, culminating in a grand ceremony of honor with the winners being unveiled live on stage at the JW Marriot Hotel Juhu in Mumbai on November 9.
Indian Sports Honors has partnered with Ernst & Young LLP (EY) who act as process consultants to oversee and validate the entire selection and judging process with inputs from Sportskeeda.
The jury for this esteemed event consists of a distinguished panel of sporting icons, led by Abhinav Bindra, member of the IOC and India's first individual Olympic medalist, as chairman. Joining him will be legendary Indian athlete and IOA President PT Usha, former world number one shooter Anjali Bhagwat and Sanjog Gupta, head of sports at Disney+ Star. The jury also includes 2008 Olympic bronze medalist boxing winner Vijender Singh, 2012 wrestling bronze medalist Yogeshwar Dutt and former Indian hockey captain and player Sardar Singh, as they all bring their combined expertise and insight to the selection process.
In a comprehensive and transparent evaluation, the nominations are shortlisted for ten prestigious Jury Honors and four Popular Choice Honours. The Jury Honors include categories such as Sportsman of the Year, Sportswoman of the Year and Team of the Year, while the Popular Choice Honors allow fans to take part in recognizing their favorite athletes through online polls currently live on Twitter.
Jury Awards: Athlete of the Year (individual), Athlete of the Year (individual), Para-athlete of the Year (male), Para-athlete of the Year (female), Coach of the Year (male), Coach of the Year (Female), Team of the Year (Male), Team of the Year (Female), Athlete of the Year (Team) and Athlete of the Year (Team).
Popular Choice Awards: Breakthrough Performance of the Year (men), Breakthrough Performance of the Year (women), Fan Club of the Year and Club of the Year.
