A few years ago, the advertisement featuring the head coach of the Indian cricket team, Rahul Dravid in an impatient and violent avatar, surprised almost everyone. Dravid is a player who was known for his discipline and courtesy both on and off the pitch. However, the depiction of the legend as a feuding individual came as a bit of a shock to viewers. At a recent event, Dravid talked about the now famous Cred ad and how he reacted to the title of “Indiranagar ka gunda”.
“There are people who look at me very differently now, thinking when is this man going to explode. It was a very good, positive response. I wasn’t so sure about the responses. But I think it’s been very well received,” he said.
“It was very positive, except for my mother. My mother isn’t really convinced yet. I think she still believes I shouldn’t have smashed the glass. She’s like – do you really think this…?”
Though the fan love was overwhelming after the ad’s release, Dravid claimed that it was an extremely embarrassing shoot for him as he had to behave aggressively in the middle of a road in Mumbai.
“It’s probably one of the most embarrassing things I’ve done, standing in front of the street in Bombay. Even if it’s a commercial shoot and you know there are people around you, who are semi-actors or whatever. Still, it was very embarrassing for someone like me to stand in the middle of that road and keep yelling and screaming,” Dravid added.
