Sourav Ganguly, one of the best captains in Indian cricket and former chairman of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), is a true legend of the game, one who has served the sport for a long time. As the Indian cricket team looks to kick off its campaign against Pakistan in the 2022 T20 World Cup, Ganguly backs Rohit Sharma’s men to go all out in the tournament. But India does face stiff competition from other top clubs. As for the semi-finalists, Ganguly has absolute clarity on the favorites.
The 2021 T20 World Cup was a disaster for the Indian team as Virat Kohli’s men hadn’t even made it out of the group stage. Like last year, even this campaign for India against Pakistan is starting. But Ganguly doesn’t want people to dive into the past.
“What happened before, there’s no point in talking about that. India will be one of the favorites to win the tournament. In World Cup, the battle is completely different,” Ganguly told India Today.
The T20 format remains the most unpredictable and Ganguly thinks any team can beat anyone on any given day. While there are some ‘favourites’, the tournament has already seen some setbacks, especially with the departure of two-time champions of the West Indies.
Dada, one of the most respected figures in Indian cricket, believes that any team that performs well over the next 2-3 weeks can win the title.
“The teams that will play well in those two to three weeks will make it up,” said Ganguly. “Look, it’s hard to say it before, but we have a good side. Big hitters are there. In T20 format, form in those hours is very crucial,” Ganguly said of the team.

In making a prediction, Ganguly named Australia, South Africa and England as the four semi-finalists alongside India.
“I will choose India, South Africa, Australia and England. South Africa is a good bowling club and that will be a factor in Australia,” he concluded.
