India made a sizzling start of their campaign and delivered a 5-0 thrashing to Macau in their opening group D Tie of the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championship in Qingdao, China on Wednesday. After having won the bronze medal in the last edition in Dubai, India is now assured of a quarter -final berth. They will then be confronted against Korea on Thursday in their second and final group bond. The mixed double pair of Sathish Kumar Karunakaran and Aadya Vareryath, the newly crowned National Games Gold medal winners, gave India an exciting start and won a 21-10, 21-9 victory against Iok Chong Leong and Weng Chi Ng in the opening match.
In Heren Singles, 2021 World Championships Bronze medal winner Lakshya Sen, Pang Fong Pui 21-16, 21-12, has surpassed 2-0.
Malvika Bansod, the 2024 Hylo Open finalist, then sealed the draw for India with a dominant 21-15, 21-9 victory over Hao Wai Chan in Ladies Singles.
Chirag Shetty linked to Mr. Arjun and had 21-15, 21-19 about Chin Pon Pui and Kok Wen vong in Herendubbels.
The world number 9 women's doubles pair Treesa Jolly and Gayatri GopiCand completed the demolition with a 21-10, 21-5 thrashing from NG Weng Chi and Pui Chi wa in the last game.
Thursday's match against Korea will decide the group stopper.
