Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who retired while chasing a 165 goal in the third T20I of the five-game series against the West Indies on Tuesday at Warner Park, Basseterre, St. Kitts, said he is hopeful to to recover from the injury, as the team has several days before the next game. Rohit suffered a back cramp in the second left of the Indian at bat, then had to return to the pavilion with only 11 runs left.
“It’s okay at the moment. We have a few days until the next game, hopefully it will be okay (his injury). How we bowled in the middle overs was crucial. I thought we used the conditions well. Used the variations Well “It was very clinical the way we chased. When you looked from the outside you didn’t feel there was a lot of risk taking, there was a lot of calm in the middle,” Rohit said in a post-match presentation.
“Surya hit brilliantly, working well there with Iyer. The pitch had something in it for the bowlers, not an easy target. It was important to pick the right shots and the right balls on such a ground,” he added.
Earlier, after Rohit retired hurt, the BCCI also posted an update on the Indian captain’s condition on Twitter.

Arriving at the match, Team India chased the goal of 165 with one left and seven wickets in hand. Suryakumar Yadav was the star for India as he took the visitors to victory with 76 runs and helped them take a 2-1 lead in the ongoing T20I series.

Previously, Kyle Mayers played a 73-point knockout, which helped the hosts put in a strong tally. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the bowler’s choice for India as he scalped two wickets, including Mayers’ main wicket.
Both teams will now compete for the fourth T20I on August 6 at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida.
