India thrashed Bangladesh by a huge margin of 280 runs in another home Test that concluded inside four days at Chepauk on Sunday. It was India's 41st win in 52 Tests at home since the start of 2013. While some of the big guns failed to fire the bat, the lower order rose to the occasion in the first innings before the bowlers rose to the party and defeated Bangladesh in 656 deliveries in total in the two innings. India have been ruthless in their own backyard in the last decade and have lost only four matches at home since 2013.
They have not lost a single Test series at home since losing 2-1 to England in 2012! No team has a better home record than India in this period. In fact, no team in any period in the history of Test cricket has been as dominant as India in the last 10-11 years!
We look at some interesting figures that illustrate India's unprecedented dominance on home soil in Test cricket since 2013.
Please note: All figures for India are set to 'Home' as of January 1, 2013

Their dominance at home during this period is even more ruthless than that of Australia Down Under (72% win percentage). India have lost just four matches in their own backyard in the last 11 and a half years.

It was their 36th win on home soil since 2013 by a margin of 100+ runs or an innings or 8+ wickets. This effectively means that 88% of India's home wins (36 out of 41) in this time frame have come by completely crushing the opposition – a staggering statistic!
17 – Number of consecutive series wins for India India have not lost a single Test series at home since losing 2-1 to England in December 2012. They have won 17 consecutive home series since the start of 2013. These wins include three series triumphs against Australia and England and two against South Africa! The all-time best Australian units of the 1990s and mid-2000s held the previous record – winning 10 consecutive home series between 1994-2001 and then 2004-2008. Clive Lloyd's legendary West Indies team won eight consecutive home series from 1976 to 1986.

It was their 15th home Test win since 2013 in which they have bowled the opposition twice in under a combined 700 deliveries. This effectively means that on average, India have bowled the opposition out in under 58 overs in each innings in these 15 wins, which in turn implies that on average, they have bowled the opposition out in under two sessions in each innings in these 15 encounters.
7 – Number of series sweeps for India India have won a whopping 7 home series (series with two or more Tests) since the start of 2013. There are two other clean sweeps against the West Indies, and one each against New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Murali Vijay with 8 and Cheteshwar Pujara with 7 complete the top four. While India have a total of 69 individual centuries at home since 2013, the opposition have a total of just 25. England have 10 individual centuries while Australia have 7.
18.8 – Bowling average difference between India and the opposition The surprising statistic is that the bowling average difference between India and the opposition in India since 2013 has been marginally higher than the corresponding difference in batting. This not only shows the power and dominance of the Indian spinners in exploiting favourable conditions at home but also the rise of the Indian pace brigade since 2017-18. While the Indian bowling unit has a combined average of 22.54 in this time frame, the opposition has conceded 41.34 runs per dismissal.
