Ravindra Jadeja’s starting phase as captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 was far from a smooth affair. Since taking over the mantle of the great MS Dhoni, the spin all-rounder has led the four-time champion to just two wins in seven matches. CSK is currently in ninth place in the points table with 10 teams. However, one of Jadeja’s IPL teammates believes that the player has what it takes to lead the Indian cricket team in the future.
Current Indian captain Rohit Sharma turns 35 in five days. Judging by Sharma’s age, India will most likely see a new captain in the next three to four years. CSK veteran Ambati Rayudu believes Jadeja is a good fit for the role. He explained that with Dhoni’s presence in the CSK ranks, Jadeja will further enhance his abilities as a captain.
“Filling in Mahi Bhai’s shoes (in CSK), it’s never going to happen. But Jaddu definitely has it in him. Under the guidance of Mahi Bhai, until the time he is on the floor with him, it will be very easy for him Jadeja will He has what it takes to lead not only CSK, but ultimately India,” Rayudu said on CSK’s YouTube channel.
“There is a shift and it has to come. A lot of young people will continue to play in CSK over the years. With a young captain like Jadeja who has done it and seen it all, it will be great for them to be under him, have “Confidence. They have the support of the captain and I think he is going in the right direction and even being the team. CSK will be very, very successful under him.”
