The Indian men’s cricket team, led by Hardik Pandya, will play against Ireland from Sunday in a two-match T20 International series. Ahead of the series, Irish all-rounder Gareth Delany spoke to DailyExpertNews in an exclusive chat, revealing his thoughts on the matches against India, a batter from the team he’d love to bowl against, a bowler he’s looking forward to and more. “It would be a cool experience to bowl against Suryakumar Yadav. He is an incredibly talented batter who can play 360 degrees and mix between power and finesse,” said Delany.
India also has a handful of exciting bowlers in the squad for the Ireland series, despite Test stars like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja being unavailable as they prepare for the rescheduled fifth Test against England.
Delany referred to the veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar as someone against whom he would like to test his skills.
“Bhuvneshwar Kumar is one of the world’s best new ball bowlers in T20 and has a very low economy for T20 cricket so it would be a good challenge to go up against someone of his caliber,” said Delany.
“It’s an incredibly exciting opportunity to play against the best in the world and start our international summer of competitions. It will be a really tough challenge against some of the best players in this format, but it’s very exciting nonetheless,” Delany said of the prospect of a confrontation with India.
“Hopefully we can put in two strong performances,” he added.
Ireland had missed the Super 12 stage of the 2021 T20 World Cup, which Delany said was “incredibly disappointing”, but he remains confident of a better show in this year’s edition of the groundbreaking competition, which will take place in October-November. are held in Australia.
“Failing to qualify for last year’s T20 World Cup Super 12 stage was an incredibly disappointing experience for us as a team.
