Any player who does well in cricket matches between India and Pakistan will be awarded hero status in both countries. The exact opposite happens when one makes a mistake in the much-hyped collision. The same happened to fast bowler Arshdeep Singh during the 2022 Asian Cup when he dropped Pakistani Asif Ali’s catch from Ravi Bishnoi’s bowling alley during a crisis situation. He was then heavily trolled on social media. Cut to T20 World Cup, and Arshdeep is India’s best bowler so far in the mega event. He has taken nine wickets in four matches, the highest of any bowler in the Super 12 stage.
Wasim Akram, a former Pakistani superstar and a left-arm pacemaker like Arshdeep, had high praise for the 23-year-old pacemaker.
“He has nine wickets in the tournament, the most of anyone in the Super 12 stage. Uska talent maine aur Waqar (Younis) ne toh Asia Cup me hello dekh liya tha. Jis tareeke se wo ball ko swing karta hai, naya ball dono taraf I heard he did very well in IPL he has a bright future wise bowler hai yorker achha karta hai aur slow ball bhi achhi hai do wickets jo usne liye hai (against Bangladesh), usne match ka pasa palat diya. ( Waqar and I saw his talent in the Asian Cup. He can swing the ball either way. He has a bright future, he is sensible, can bowl yorkers and slow balls. The two wickets he took changed it course of the game),” Akram said on A Sports.

He added: “India me isko social media pe udaaya gaya (He was trolled on social media in India), but he himself said it doesn’t bother me. Ye attitude bada zaroori hai (This attitude is important).”
Arshdeep’s stellar performance has seen the Indian tempo department fire on all cylinders despite the absence of Jasprit Bumrah. India hopes that its latest pace sensation will continue to shine in the upcoming matches.
