Chennai Super Kings returned to winning ways on Sunday when the squad defeated SunRisers Hyderabad by 13 runs at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune in the current Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season. Asked to bat first, CSK placed 202 /2 in 20 overs thanks in large part to the opening score of 182 between Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway. During this partnership, the duo broke several records and also registered the fourth highest opening partnership in the history of the tournament.
The opening partnership of 182 is the largest partnership for any wicket by a CSK pair.
This score is also the largest for any wicket in Pune in the tournament.
With this standing, the duo also registered the highest opening wicket partnership in this year’s IPL.
SunRisers Hyderabad has an excellent bowling lineup consisting of T Natarajan, Umran Malik, Bhuveshwar Kumar and Marco Jansen. However, they were unable to contain Chennai Super Kings.
Gaikwad and Conway registered the highest partnership for a wicket against SRH in the history of the money-rich league.
Against SRH, CSK was asked to bat first and the MS Dhoni-led squad placed 202/2 in 20 overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad played a knockout 99, while Devon Conway went unbeaten at 85.
Hyderabad got their first wicket after 17.5 overs when T Natarajan dismissed Gaikwad.
