AUS vs WI, 1st Test: Glimpse of Mitchell Starc’s delivery to sack Da Silva©Twitter
Australia continue to dominate the ongoing first Test against the West Indies at Perth Stadium. The hosts first declared their innings with a mammoth 598 for 4 after double hundreds from Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne, then further pressed the visitors with a quality bowling attack. The West Indies resumed their innings on the third day of the game at 74/0 losing Tagenarine Chanderpaul early, Kraigg Brathwaite – his co-opener – also quickly followed him to the dugout.
The guests then recovered a bit and came to 244 runs while losing four wickets. This is when Australia took the new ball when 80 overs had been completed in the innings and Mitchell Starc had all the fun.
The left-arm pacer, who had only taken one wicket by then, returned and dismissed Jermaine Blackwood as LBW. What followed was a sharp swing from the Aussie that rattled the stumps of Windies’ Joshua Da Silva.
It was a fuller ball from Starc, tossed onto a tree stump at 90 mph, which swung sharply into the batter, disturbing his stumps.

The day before, Steve Smith had led the way with an unbeaten 200-run knock, while Marnus Labuschagne was also in the spotlight for a fine 204 knock. For former Australia skipper Smith, it was his 29th Test century in which he equaled Don Bradman’s performance in the format. He is now tied for 14th on the all-time list with Australian Matthew Hayden and Shivnarine Chanderpaul ahead of him with 30 Test centuries each to their name. Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar tops the list with 51 tons to his credit.
