Veteran Batter Ahmed Shahzad was taken out at Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan for his “bewildering” blunder to first hit the Tri-Nation Series Final against New Zealand. On Friday, New Zealand Pakistan defeated 5 wickets to win the Tri-Nation Series final at the National Stadium in Karachi. After he had chosen to hit first, Pakistan 242 was bent for a two-part track, and New Zealand achieved the target in just 45.2 overs. On his YouTube channel, Shahzad spoke to Rizwan's decision, especially after Pakistan pursued 353 a few days earlier against South Africa on the same ground.
“It was a staggering decision (to hit first) because we had seen in the previous game that the field will be better to hit at night, the ball does not grab the surface for the spinners. Yet the Pakistan team nevertheless decided first To hit, “said Shahzad on his YouTube channel.
Shahzad feels that Pakistan is only able to beat second or third string oppositions, adding that the side led by Rizwan was brutally exposed by New Zealand prior to the Champions trophy.
“The bubble of Pakistan is cracked for the Champions trophy. You get the chance to only win when the opposition performs under Par or does not play their most important players,” he added.
Shahzad also asked the logic behind the decision to drop Pacer Mohammad Hasnain at the expense of all -rounder Fahraf Ashraf, especially in view of the fact that the latter only bowed two overs in the game.
“In his every decision, the captain of Pakistan wants to play safely with batting, whether it is a spinner in the Champions Trophy Squad or this match, where they played (bowling all-rounder) Fahraf ashraf to have a longer battle line- at the expense From (fast bowler) Mohammad Hasnain and still used him (Ashraf) for just two overs, “Shahzad noted.
After the game, Rizwan had explained the logic behind his decision to hit first.
“We first wanted to hit because we thought the field would be difficult in the second half. But their bowlers were struck us. We were looking for 280, but they got it back. We were 15 points short. They were bowling bowling Very good. [Fielding] We have to make the improvement. This is a department that we miss. [Abrar] He has really improved. The others must also improve. [CT’25] We also wanted to prepare for the 19th. So that's why we wanted to hit first, “said Rizwan during the presentation ceremony after the game.
