Mumbai Indians had a day to remember on Sunday as they recorded a comfortable eight wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in their last league game. However, the main reason of luck came after Gujarat Titans defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in the second match on Sunday, paving the way for the five-time champions to the IPL 2023 Playoffs. MI, who have now qualified with 16 points in total, were depending on GT’s victory over RCB. The team erupted in joy to celebrate their entry into the knockout stages of the tournament.
MI posted a video on Instagram showing people like Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Cameron Green, Ishan Kishan and others celebrating jumps after Gujarat recorded a six wicket win over RCB. RCB’s loss left MI fourth on the points table.
Cameron Green’s magnificent first century (100*) and Rohit Sharma’s half-century saw Mumbai Indians take a comprehensive eight-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in their final league match of the IPL at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.
Green hit eight fours and eight sixes during his unbeaten 100 coming off just 47 balls. He added 53 runs with Suryakumar Yadav (25 not out) for the unbroken third wicket to cross MI.
Earlier, unannounced Uttarakhand pacemaker Akash Madhwal consistently nailed his yorkers to death as MI Sunrisers restricted Hyderabad to 200 for 5.
MI will now face Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator match of IPL 2023 on Wednesday at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
