IPL 2022: Virat Kohli failed to start in Qualifier 2 vs RR© BCCI/IPL
Virat Kohli’s tussle in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League has been quite apparent and former England captain Michael Vaughan wants the batter to take a break from the game, which was also suggested earlier in the season by former India head coach Ravi Shastri . Kohli was sacked for seven in RCB’s defeat to Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022 Qualifier 2 on Friday. The 33-year-old had one of his worst seasons, scoring just 341 runs in 16 games. Vaughan believes Kohli should spend some time off the game, saying that every player goes through a difficult phase in their career.
“I think at this point he should just put his bat in his bag and sit down with the family. I don’t know where he can go without being harassed and harassed, advertising. Just get away from anything that, a chill for a few weeks and he’ll be fresh when he picks up the bat,” Vaughan said on Cricbuzz.
“He’s a legendary player who is going through a time that isn’t too easy. Two or three years ago you just turned on the television or you got on the floor and you knew Virat would score a hundred. He only made it through one. ” of those periods where he seemed to get a hundred every time he hit. It’s a career, isn’t it? You don’t go through your whole career where everything is so easy,” he added.
With Kohli equipped for India’s upcoming T20I series against South Africa, Vaughan believes the former India skipper needs a breather before starting again in the one-off test against England.
“He just needs a breather. He needs some time to get away from the game. Go spend some time with your family, get on a plane to England and then start hitting some balls again,” he added.
