Al-Hilal star striker Neymar will miss the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League match against Mumbai City FC. According to Olympic.com, Neymar suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and meniscus in his left knee during Brazil’s FIFA World Cup qualifier against Uruguay on Tuesday after a tackle by Uruguay’s Nicolas de la Cruz and was carried on a stretcher. MRI scans confirmed the injury was serious, requiring surgery and rehabilitation. The date of the operation has not yet been determined; it is almost certain that Neymar will miss the match against Mumbai City FC on November 7, Mumbai’s home ground, DY Patil Stadium. The match and seeing Neymar had become a dream for Indian football fans as both teams were drawn in Group D.
Al-Hilal are top of Group D with wins and draws, but Mumbai are bottom with losses in both matches.
Neymar left French club Paris Saint Germain (PSG) for Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal earlier this year.
