There have been multiple big punches in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), but nothing can be as explosive as Chris Gayle’s 175 against Pune Warriors in 2013. While a number of cricketers have come close to breaking the record, none have yet achieved it but The Universal Boss believes there is one Indian cricketer who can put in a new performance in the tournament. In a recent interaction, Gayle Lucknow supported Super Giants skipper KL Rahul to improve his record and even praised the Indian batsman for his aggressive form of cricket which has made him famous among the fans.
“First off I think KL Rahul! On his day he can do it. I don’t think he believes in his ability to get that big score but listen to me we have all seen KL Rahul on the road and if he decided to be like that sometimes if not most times, which I would like to see, he can definitely understand that,” Gayle said on JioCinema.
Because if he goes from 15th to 20th [over], he’s also very dangerous down there at death, blow wise. If he gets a good start and gets over 100, he can definitely get past 175,” he added.
Rahul did not perform well in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, but his luck changed greatly in white ball cricket.
The 30-year-old, who was used as a middle option in the first ODI, played a 75-run knockout to lead the hosts to a commendable victory.
