Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt believes that the Indian cricket team has ticked all the boxes after the Rohit Sharma-led team qualified for the 2023 Asia Cup final. With two wins in two days against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, Butt is of believes India has made its intentions clear ahead of this year’s World Cup. So far, the Indian batters have delivered the goods while the bowlers have made a powerful statement. The return of Jasprit Bumrah and KL Rahul from injury was a huge positive for Rohit and his men.
Rahul scored an unbeaten century against Pakistan on his return to the side, while Bumrah, despite picking just three wickets, troubled the opposition batters, especially with the new ball.
Butt believes Bumrah’s comeback is exceptional and said the pacer has “looked at a different level”. He also praised spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who has picked nine wickets in two matches, including a five-wicket haul against Pakistan.
“Jasprit Bumrah looks at a different level now. Siraj can bowl well. Kuldeep is a special bowler. It’s not easy to control him, whether he bowls a googly or his leg spin. Most batters struggle to get him on Sometimes they are late in bowling, so it is not easy to hit it into the hole,” Butt said on his YouTube channel.
“So there are a lot of positives for India so far in the Asia Cup. Batters have done their job. Injured players are back to full fitness. The top four have scored runs. Pandya has bowled well and looks fitter. The world is witnessed Bumrah’s exceptional comeback. India ticked all the boxes on their way to the Asia Cup final and the World Cup,” he added.
India will now take on Pakistan or Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final on Sunday.
