Australian batsman Marnus Labuschagne has hit back at former teammate David Warner, who criticized him for his dismissal during last week's pink-ball Test in Adelaide. Marnus, who had two failures in the series opener in Perth, returned to form with a well-made 62 in the first innings in Adelaide. He didn't get a chance to bat the second time as Australia chased a low total with 10 wickets to spare. Despite Labuschagne silencing his critics, Warner was still unconvinced whether his former teammate is indeed back to his best.
Warner emphasized that Labuschagne gets into trouble every time he reaches 50 due to “lack of awareness.”
“I'm still not convinced about Marnus. I don't think that's close to what we know he's capable of. Maybe he took a few out of the middle, got a few freebies, and was good that night beaten to get through.” but they bowled poorly. So from that perspective he had the best conditions to get out and hit it. But he got out the same way he always gets out when he gets over 50, and hits straight to the gully,” Warner said further. However, Labuschagne has responded to his former teammate's criticism of him, saying Warner needs to “check” the statistics closely.
'I'd like him to check how many times I've been caught in a gully, because apparently I go there every week. I've looked back and I think I can only remember two times where I've been caught in a gully. So maybe I can I should look at Bull (Warner)'s comment there. But like I said, everyone is here to write papers and write articles,” he added.
Meanwhile, the five-match series is level at 1-1 after the visitors won the first match in Perth by 295 runs before crumbling to a 10-wicket defeat in Adelaide with the pink ball.
The third Test starts on Saturday at the Gabba, which used to be a fortress for Australia, who were unbeaten there since 1988 until India finally broke through in 2021 to take their four-Test series 2-1.
