Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Indian boxers Nikhat Zareen and Lovlina Borgohain on Sunday for winning gold at the World Boxing Championships. With this win, Nikhat became only the second Indian female boxer to win two golds at the World Championships alongside boxing legend Mary Kom who has won a record six gold medals in the competition.

Besides Nikhat and Lovlina, 2022 Commonwealth Games medalist Nitu Ghanghas (48 kg) and three-time Asian medalist Saweety Boora (81 kg) were the other gold medalists for the hosts. All boxers were awarded INR 82.7 lakhs ($100,000) each in prize money for becoming world champions
