Rishabh Pant was given the responsibility of leading Team India after KL Rahul suffered an injury on the eve of the opening T20I of the five-game series against South Africa. He didn’t have the best start as India lost the first two games of the series. But under Pant’s leadership, the hosts fought back brilliantly to bring the series to 2-2 with the deciding T20I to be played later in the day. While Pant has been hailed from many quarters for his captaincy, his batting performance has been put under scrutiny after a string of low scores.
The likes of Wasim Jaffer and Dale Steyn have even said that Pant could disappear from the playing XI in T20Is in its current form.
Now former Pakistani spinner Danish Kaneria has expressed concern about the Indian wicketkeeper’s condition, calling him “slightly overweight and bulky”.
“I want to talk about holding Rishabh Pant. I noticed one thing that when a fast bowler is bowling, he doesn’t squat and sit down. He stays standing. Maybe because he is a bit too heavy and bulky, he can he doesn’t get up that fast and he doesn’t have that much time he just stays hunched back and low he doesn’t sit down i think that kinda shows that he’s worried about his condition is rishabh pant totally fit ?” Kaneria said in a video on his YouTube channel.
“Rishabh Pant will have to improve his batting style. KS Bharat is available and I see no harm in bringing in Wriddhiman Saha. Just give Rishabh Pant a break,” added the former Pakistani cricketer.

In the ongoing T20I series against South Africa, Pant has struggled massively with the bat. He scored just 57 points in four games at an average of 14.25.
With Dinesh Karthik playing as a pure batter and making a big contribution with the bat, Pant is under tremendous pressure to perform.
