Young SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) pacer Umran Malik has put on an exciting display of fast bowling since his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut last year. Also this year he was one of the few positives for SRH as they got off to a slow start in IPL 2022. In their win over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Friday, he showed a brilliant display of raw pace, but also added good line and lengths to limit the opposition to 175/8. He took two wickets and gave up just 27 runs in his four overs, and would be especially happy with how he got rid of KKR captain Shreyas Iyer.
Iyer struggled with his pace when Malik laced him with some good short throws. However, it was a Yorker, shot at nearly 149 km/h, that did the job because Iyer couldn’t block it and had to take off for 28 out of 25.
The delivery caused Dale Steyn – one of the greatest exponents of the pace of bowling – to jump out of his seat in the SRH dugout and hug Muttiah Muralitharan excitedly.

In a recent Twitter Q&A, SRH praised fast bowling coach Steyn Umran Malik and revealed his advice for the youngster.
“Never lose the pace. Anyone can bowl 130/135. But hey, some variety in his skills will help him a lot,” Steyn had tweeted.

Malik also got the wicket from Sheldon Jackson with a short pitch that knocked the wicketkeeper batter to T Natarajan on fine leg from above.
The 176 chase was made easy by Rahul Tripathi and Aiden Markram, despite SRH Abhishek losing Sharma and Kane Williamson in the Powerplay.
The two teamed up for 94 runs to take the game away from KKR.
Tripathi dominated that partnership, crushing 71 of 37 deliveries. The SRH No.3 hit four fours and six sixes when he launched the attack on the KKR bowlers, with Varun Chakravarthy taking the brunt of the brunt.

Even after Tripathi fell to Andre Russell, Markram saw his team come home, with a nice unbeaten 68 from 36 deliveries. The South African hit six fours and four sixes as he entered his second half-century of the season.
SRH rode to victory and finished the game with more than two overs left.
