Former Chennai Super Kings batsman Suresh Raina remains one of the most successful players in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Raina, who has spent most of his IPL career with CSK, has tasted success in the T20 league. While Chennai has had a strong team for almost the entire IPL run, it is also their culture that has helped the management get the most out of the players. One of those cultures included the rule of not partying until late. (IPL 2024 points table)
Raina, in an interview, made a subtle comment about franchises who have not yet won the IPL, saying only those who have not yet won the league and are used to partying.
“Chennai has never partied. That's why they have been the most successful. 2-3 teams that partied haven't won the IPL yet. Laugs (do you mean RCB?) No, there are a few teams that haven't won, they have to partied hard,” said Suresh Raina in a chat on Lallantop.
“We (CSK) haven't done it. That's why we have five IPL trophies and two Champions League trophies. MI has also won five trophies,” he added.
Raina mentioned the culture of certain franchises where all-night parties take place. The former India star did not hesitate to question how a team with such trends can win the IPL.
“If you party late into the night, how do you play in the morning? How do you play afternoon games in the heat of May and June when you've been partying all night?” Raina added.
“The entire team didn't want to party late into the night. We also play for India, keep that in mind. If I don't play well, why will my captain select me? Now I am free, I am retired.” We can party,” Raina further explained.
One of the best run-getters in IPL history, Raina is now enjoying his career as a commentator in the ongoing IPL 2024.
