Uns about one of the biggest cricketers that the game has seen, MS Dhoni is a matter of another adventure in the Chennai Super Kings shirt while the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season starts for his franchise on Sunday. In the opening conflict of the season, Dhoni takes the other most decorated franchise in the game, Mumbai Indians. Just like every other season since his international retirement, the subject of Dhoni's future in the IPL has announced the lips of the fans since the schedule of the tournament was announced.
In anticipation of CSK's season opening match against Mi, Dhoni said he could play as long as he wanted.
“I can play as long as I want for CSK. That's my franchise. Even when I'm in a wheelchair, they will drag me,” he said in a chat on Jiohotstar prior to the collision to Mumbai Indians.

Ruturaj gaikwad greeting remarkable Mrs. Dhoni
CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad shared a number of intriguing insights into the “remarkable” ability of Dhoni to contribute to the team at the age of 43 and hoped that he will deliver “crucial punches” in this IPL.
Dhoni, as the last few seasons were, is expected to be in the lower order for CSK Bat, probably at the No. 7 or no. 8 places.
“Many new players have joined the team and sometimes they struggle to hit the ball as well as he stores it now. So it certainly inspires many of us, including myself,” Gaikwad told the media on the eve of CSK's Opening-IPL match against arch-rival Mumbai Indians. “So whatever he does at the age of 43, I think it is remarkable. We have certain strengths that we have followed since the past two years. So I think nothing really changes and hopefully he will continue to deliver those crucial punches for us,” he added.
Gaikwad also emphasized the special approach of Dhoni in the nets prior to CSK's season opener.
“I think his training is very limited to what he is trying to achieve or what his role would be in the IPL. So it is almost very easy, aimed at trying to touch no less than six and tries to get the right swing, to be in the best form.
“That is what I think he initially tried to do and then I never thought he was out of shape. If you see it now, even Sachin Tendulkar will hit so big (in the Master competition) when he is now at the age of 50. So I think there are many years to go (for Dhoni),” he noticed.
