It has been a tough year for KL Rahul as the Indian batsman has been massively tolerated on social media after a disappointing Test series performance against Australia. Rahul struggled to find any form as he could only score 37 runs in 2 matches and was later dropped ahead of the third Test. Though his form improved in the ODIs, the conversation about his batting has continued and even his success rate in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 has been a subject of massive debate. Not only fans took part in these conversations, several ex-cricketers also participated.
On an episode of “The Ranveer Show” podcast, Rahul talked about his experience with trolls over the past year and how it affected him and his outlook on cricket.
“That’s something that touches me sometimes and also affects a lot of other guys that when we athletes really need support, people feel like they can or have the power to comment or say what they want. Just see what that person is going through,” Rahul opened up on the podcast.
“None of us wants to underperform. This is our life. This is all we do. Like I said, I don’t know anything but cricket.”
“That’s all I do. Why would anyone assume that I don’t take my game seriously or that I don’t work hard enough? And, unfortunately, in sports there is no connection. Like I said, you can work hard, like I work hard, but the result was not easy,” he added.
Rahul was ruled out of the 2023 IPL after few matches due to an on-pitch injury.
