Mohammed Shami, who played his first ODI match since November 2020, helped break the English batting lineup at the Kennington Oval, finishing with figures of 3/31. After India won the match convincingly, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video of Shami having a conversation with India’s bowling coach Paras Mhambrey. During the interaction, Mhambrey asked him, “You are obviously playing ODIs after a short break, so did you come up with something and go? Did you follow the same processes or did you do something different?” Before answering his question, Shami made a funny comment.
†thoda pause nahi tha, 3 saal ka break tha (It wasn’t a short break, it was for three years),’ he said with a chuckle.

He then said: “There was nothing going on in my head regarding the gap. I have become very comfortable with the team. We travel together and have played together for about ten years now.”
“It’s extremely important to come up with a clear mind because you already know what to do, where to throw the ball, the variations in white-ball and everyone knows these basics,” Shami said.
Shami and Jasprit Bumrah – who recorded the best marks of their career of 6/19 – helped India beat England for 110, taking a stunning win in the series opener.
In the process, Shami became the fastest Indian to take 150 wickets in ODIs.
