Once I got to know him, such a lovely person he was. We became really good friends, we laughed, shared a lot of stories and he was someone I could call at 2:30 in the morning and say ‘hey mate, what are you up to? Let’s meet up’ and he would be there be ready. I was so shocked when I woke up in the morning and saw my phone, I was devastated to see Andrew is gone.”
“I still can’t believe such a strong guy. Whatever happened, it’s very sad. My condolences to his family, friends and everyone. It’s a loss to all of us, he left us and true you too are mate, rest in peace and you will be missed,” he continued.
Symonds was a gun fielder and batters were always careful on a fast run when he was around. Symonds was a crucial member of Australia’s 50-over World Cup victories in 2003 and 2007.
