The first T20I between the West Indies and New Zealand on Wednesday saw exceptional field work by the West Indies players at Jamaica’s Sabina Park. Shimron Hetmyer set the tone with a one-handed screamer to sack New Zealand’s Martin Guptill and what followed was another brilliant catch from his teammate Hayden Walsh Junior. The latter took a sensational catch on the square leg to shorten Kane Williamson’s stint at the crease. Odean Smith threw a short ball to Williamson and the latter, hitting on 47 of 32 balls, pulled him to the square leg in search of a boundary, but Hayden Walsh’s stunner robbed him of half a century.
The ball was on the surface near the square leg boundary, but Hayden Walsh made good ground from the back square leg and made a brilliant dive to complete the catch.
