2023 Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova has broken the Top 10 in the latest edition of the WTA rankings, while Iga Swiatek recorded her best performance at Wimbledon by advancing to the quarterfinals to retain first place. Vondrousova leads the way with a new career high, but several players who have made headlines in the past two weeks, such as Elina Svitolina and Mirra Andreeva, have seen their rankings rise. Marketa Vondrousova enters the Top 10 this week at number 10, 30 positions higher than her previous ranking. Vondrousova’s top-ranking place was confirmed with her remarkable victory over Ons Jabeur, making her the sixth Czech player to break the WTA Top 10 since 2000.
The world No. 1 ranking was in sight for Aryna Sabalenka for the second Grand Slam in a row. Iga Swiatek, on the other hand, had her career best performance at Wimbledon, reaching the quarterfinals to maintain her lead. Since reaching the peak on April 4, 2022, the 22-year-old has been at the top for 68 weeks in a row.
Sabalenka is still within range of Swiatek heading into the hard court season, trailing by 470 points. Swiatek defends 2,270 ranking points during the summer hard court swing, while Sabalenka defends 1,335 points.
Mirra Andreeva earned 280 points after reaching the last 16 as a qualifier at Wimbledon, paving the way for her Top 100 debut this week. This week, 16-year-old Andreeva’s rating rises 36 positions, from number 102 to number 66.
Wildcard Elina Svitolina upset four Grand Slam winners in the first round, Sofia Kenin in the third round, Victoria Azarenka in the fourth round and Iga Swiatek in the quarterfinals to reach her third Grand Slam semifinal and second at Wimbledon reach. Following her most recent performance, the Ukrainian moves up 48 places from No. 75 to No. 27, the highest increase in the Top 100 this week.
Bopanna moves up to number 7 in the world
Rohan Bopanna climbed to world No. 7 in the latest ATP Doubles Rankings. This is his best ranking since October 2013.
Rohan Bopanna and his Australian partner Matthew Ebden have just reached the semifinals of the men’s doubles at Wimbledon 2023, moving the Indian tennis player up five places in the rankings.
Bopanna, 43, was rated 19th at the start of the 2023 season. In 2022, he suffered a knee injury and was forced to withdraw from many events, including the Davis Cup.
However, the experienced player is in great shape this year. In March, Rohan Bopanna won the Indian Wells Masters with Ebden to become the oldest ATP Masters 1000 winner in history.
Bopanna and Ebden also won the Qatar Open in February and advanced to the ATP Masters 1000 final of the Madrid Open in May.
