iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, powered by A17 Pro Bionic SoC, were unveiled at Apple’s ‘Wonderlust’ event last month and hit stores worldwide on September 22. Since then, there have been numerous reports of iPhone 15 Pro models overheating. Apple has reportedly acknowledged the issue in a new update and is working on a fix with an upcoming software update. Apple claims that recent updates to some third-party apps such as Instagram and Uber on iOS 17 have overloaded the system, causing the latest iPhone models to run hotter than normal.
In recent weeks, several iPhone 15 Pro users on Reddit, Twitter, and Apple community forums have complained that some new models are overheating. Multiple affected users posted that they couldn’t properly hold their phones as temperatures rose, reaching over 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Several users complained that the problem is related to the new A17 Pro Bionic processor and titanium chassis. Apple has acknowledged overheating issues with its iPhone 15 Pro models. In response to the matter, Apple reportedly said in a press statement that it is aware of the issue and has promised a fix via an upcoming software update.
Apple claims that recent updates to third-party apps including Instagram, Uber and Asphalt 9: Legends in iOS 17 are overloading the system, causing the iPhone to become warmer than normal. It is said to be working with developers to resolve the issue. Instagram has already rolled out version 302 to fix the issue.
A report from MacRumors quotes the statement as saying: “We have identified a few conditions that could be causing the iPhone to run warmer than expected. The device may feel warmer for the first few days after setting up or restoring the device due to increased background activity. We We have also found a bug in iOS 17 that is affecting some users and will be fixed in a software update. Another issue concerns some recent updates to third-party apps, causing them to overload the system. We are working together working with these app developers on solutions that are currently being rolled out.”
Apple reportedly said that the titanium frame and aluminum substructure of the iPhone 15 Pro do not contribute to the overheating problem.
The iPhone 15 Pro starts at Rs. 1,39,900 for the base 128GB storage model in India, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max starts at Rs. 1,59,900. They are currently available for purchase in the country through Apple’s online store, Apple BKC, Saket, e-commerce websites and official stores.
