Chinese smartphone manufacturers Oppo and OnePlus are said to work on an advanced silicon carbon (SI/C) battery with an impressive capacity of 8,000 mAh. According to information that is shared by a well-known tip star on the Chinese Microblog platform Weibo, this next generation Battery Battery will quickly support 80W Superooc, whereby the possibilities of the existing flagship devices of the companies are reflected.
It is said that the development of the new battery takes place at Ouga Lab, the combined research and development division of Oppo and OnePlus. The Tipster, Digital Chat Station, claims that the newest battery will increase the silicon content to 15 percent, a considerable jump of the 6 percent silicon content in OnePlus' Ace 3 Pro, which was launched last year.
This development is expected to place Oppo and OnePlus first in the innovation of the battery, whereby Chinese manufacturers lead the load in promoting the technology for silicon carbon battery. These batteries are expected to deliver improved energy density and improved lifespan in comparison with conventional alternatives to lithium ions.
It remains uncertain whether the 8,000 mAh battery will be integrated in the upcoming Oppo and OnePlus smartphones. However, if these technical giants decide to adopt this technology, it is likely that it could occur in future flagship models such as the OnePlus 13 successor or the expected Oppo Find X8 series.
The race to develop high capacity batteries becomes intensifying with Chinese smartphone brands. Reports from December last year suggested that both Xiaomi and OnePlus worked on devices equipped with 7,000 mAh batteries, with potential launches that are expected in 2025. Current flagship models, such as the Xiaomi 15 Pro and the OnePlus 13, already offer battery capacities of 6,100 mAh and 6000 mAh respectively.
With progress in the battery technology that quickly progresses, consumers can look forward to a considerably improved lifespan of the battery and faster charging options in upcoming smartphones. Whether Oppo and OnePlus will officially reveal their advanced 8,000 mAh battery in future releases is still to be seen.
