Samsung Electronics is reportedly aiming for net zero emissions by 2050 and plans to invest more than $5 billion (about Rs. 39,760 crore) as it moves away from fossil fuels. The South Korean company has said it plans to achieve net-zero emissions for its smartphone, television and consumer divisions by the end of this decade and for all global operations, including semiconductors, by 2050. invested in projects including reducing emissions from process gases, controlling and recycling electronic waste.
According to a recent Reuters report, Samsung Electronics aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 and plans to invest more than $5 billion (approximately Rs. 39,760 crore) in the target.
As mentioned earlier, Samsung has set 2030 as the deadline to reach net zero emissions for its smartphone, television and consumer divisions. The tech giant plans to reach net zero for all global operations by 2050.
As a reminder, Samsung is committed to reducing process gas emissions by controlling and recycling electronic waste, saving water and minimizing pollutants.
The South Korean company also has plans to develop new technologies to reduce power consumption in consumer electronics and data centers. Samsung will also set long-term goals to reduce emissions in supply chains and logistics.
Samsung’s move in the positive direction is being praised by its investors.
