Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 was launched worldwide on Wednesday, including in India, at the highly anticipated Galaxy Unpacked event. The smartphone is the fourth version of the South Korean company’s foldable smartphone line, the Galaxy Z series. According to Samsung, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 offers a great camera experience, is the company’s more powerful smartphone and has both lighter and slimmer dimensions than older generations of handsets. It comes with an under-display camera, a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex Display, and a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC under the hood. The handset makes its debut alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 4 – another foldable smartphone with a clamshell design.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 price in India, availability
The price of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 in India has not been disclosed. It comes in 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant, 12GB RAM + 512GB storage variant and the top-end 12GB RAM + 1TB storage variant (excluding Samsung.com). The starting price of the Samsung smartphone in other markets is $1,799.99 (approximately Rs. 1,42,700).
As for availability, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 will be available in Beige, Gray Green and Phantom Black colors. There is also an exclusive Burgundy color option from Samsung.com.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 specifications
The dual-SIM (nano) Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is the first smartphone to run on One UI 4.1.1 based on Android 12L, a special version of Android created by Google for large-screen experiences, including foldable devices. The smartphone has a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex Display as the main screen. It has a QXGA+ (2,176×1,812 pixels) resolution and an aspect ratio of 21.6:18. It is an LTPO display and the refresh rate can start from as little as 1 Hz up to a maximum of 120 Hz. When it comes to the cover display, the smartphone sports a 6.2-inch HD+ (904×2,316 pixels) dynamic AMOLED 2X display with an adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz and an aspect ratio of 23.1:9.
Samsung says the phone will have an armored aluminum frame and hinge cover for structural durability. The cover shield and back panel receive Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection. The main screen panel is given an optimized layer structure for durability. Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 gets a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC paired with 12GB of RAM as standard.
For photos and videos, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 gets a total of five cameras: one on the screen of the cover, one camera below the screen on the main screen and three on the back panel. The triple rear camera is topped off by a 50-megapixel main sensor paired with an f/1.8 aperture lens. It offers dual-pixel autofocus, optical image stabilization (OIS) and has an 85-degree field of view. There is a 12-megapixel secondary sensor paired with an ultra-wide-angle f/2.2 lens with a 123-degree field of view. The third 10 megapixel sensor is linked to an f/2.4 telephoto lens. It offers OIS, Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) and 30X Space Zoom (assisted by AI Super Resolution technology).
The front camera below the main display of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 has a 4-megapixel sensor paired with an f/1.8 aperture lens. The front camera on the cover display has a 10-megapixel sensor paired with an f/2.2 lens.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 comes with up to 1TB of internal storage. Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth v5.2 and a USB Type-C port. Onboard sensors include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, barometer, gyro sensor, geomagnetic sensor, proximity sensor and light sensor. The smartphone packs a dual 4,400mAh battery, and Samsung claims that its 25W charger (sold separately) can charge the phone to 50 percent in about 30 minutes. It also comes with PowerShare wireless charging support.
Other features of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 include a new taskbar for multitasking in the latest One UI software, support for quickly copying and pasting links, photos and more from one app to another (Google apps) , optimized experience for popular social media apps like Facebook, Flex Mode, Samsung Knox security, S Pen support and IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. Unfolded, it measures 130.1 x 155.1 x 6.3 mm and weighs 263 g.
