Mumbai, 10 February (Reuters) -The increasing use of generative artificial intelligence (Genai) could increase the productivity of India's software of $ 254 billion by 43% -45% in the next five years, according to a study by consultancy Ey India.
This productivity boost, which the Survey of EY India, will include 500 roles, will come through the double effect of the IT industry itself and integrate elements of Genai internal and as more customer projects move from proof of concept to production.
Top IT companies such as TATA Consultancy Services and Infosys have emphasized the use of AI by customers to do new projects and EY India said that 89% of them started testing Genai projects, with 33% of those already in production .
“Companies go beyond experiments to bring AI into production. The rapid transition from POC to company -wide adoption reflects industry's confidence in the potential of AI,” said ABHINAV Johri, a technology advice partner at Ey India, in a statement.
Within the vast IT industry, the survey of EY India showed that roles in software development will get the largest productivity boost, from around 60%, followed by an improvement of 52% for BPO services and 47% for IT advice.
This trio software development, BPO services and IT-Consulting-Zal are good for 50% -60% of the total productivity improvement in technical services, the survey showed.
The increasing use of AI helps not only help the IT industry to improve customer service, but also reduces costs and improves revenue growth, according to managers who are investigated by EY India. (Reporting by Haripriya Suresh; Edit by Savio D'Souza)
