Google Pixel Watch 2 will launch on October 4 at the Made by Google event alongside the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Previous leaks have suggested some key specifications and color options in which the smartwatch could be introduced. A new report suggests that the upcoming smart wearable device will come with some major upgrades, including features seen on the Fitbit Sense 2. In addition to safety upgrades, the watch is also expected to come with a built-in thermometer.
Pixel Watch 2, which is expected to succeed the Pixel Watch, will reportedly offer features such as an improved electrodermal activity sensor (EDA) that will allow users to track and monitor their stress levels. A report from 9to5Google suggests that the upcoming watch will launch with this improved sensor and will help users regulate their stress levels.
The report further adds that the Pixel Watch 2, like the Fitbit Sense 2, is likely to come with an additional skin temperature sensor, which is expected to work as a thermometer and help users track their body temperature. However, the Fitbit Sense 2 only monitors skin temperature at night.
According to the report, the temperature sensor can be used not only for reading thermometers but also for tracking a user’s menstrual cycles. Notably, the Pixel 8 Pro, which will be unveiled at the same event as the Pixel Watch 2, is also likely to come with a built-in temperature sensor, according to another report.
The Pixel Watch 2 can be offered in Silver/White, Silver/Bay, Gold/Hazel and Black/Obsidian. The smartwatch models are expected to have LTE and Wi-Fi variants. The device is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 chipset. The Pixel Watch 2 can come with a Snapdragon W5 or Snapdragon W5+ SoC.
