The iOS 19 -discontinue is not far away, as is expected on WWDC 2025. And with that Apple could plan its largest iOS and MacOS updates in history. According to remarkable industry -insider and Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, the company is working on major redesignments for both operating systems.
Transparent user interface reportedly with iOS 19
In his newsletter for Subscriber, Power On, Gurman states that iOS 19 will introduce a new design language inspired by Visionos, making the user interface more transparent and visually related to Apple devices. He adds that there will be more transparency, new types of windows and buttons and a general effort to feel the Ecosystem of Apple more consistent and more familiar.
These changes will not only be limited to iOS 19. They are expected to extend to other Apple platforms, including iPados 19, MacOS 16 and more.
This is in line with a recent leak from YouTuber John Prosser, who runs the tech channel of the front page. He placed a render of the new camera app, which could be introduced in iOS 19, with transparent elements for various photo and video center functions.
With multiple sources that report similar details, it seems likely that Apple will take this designer feature with iOS 19.

If you think about it, iOS has remained visually consistent in several generations. Although Apple has introduced adjustment options, such as the dark mode, freely arranging icons of the home screen and alternative app icons, the general design has largely remained the same. The Settings app, the control center and many system elements have retained their familiar look.
The last major design prevision came with iOS 7. Now it seems that Apple is finally preparing to introduce important changes to the iOS experience. Such as things are outstanding, users demand a more modern and renewed interface and Apple could finally listen.
