Over the years, Apple users have faced a lot of criticism from their Android counterparts for not being able to take advantage of the fast charging feature despite buying a high-end smartphone. If the latest rumors are true, Apple has finally put an end to this debate with the iPhone 16 series that it launched on September 9 during its ‘It’s Glowtime’ event.
While Apple hasn’t said anything about the charging speed of the recently launched iPhone 16 series, a new report from tipster ShrimpApplePro on X has revealed that the new iPhone models could support faster charging than ever before. The tipster, citing China Quality Certification Centre, claims that the new iPhone 16 series will support 45W fast charging via its USB-C type port.
However, another post from tipster Ice Universe suggested that the iPhone 16 series may only be able to charge at up to 39W in the real world. Even if that remains the case, it would still be a huge upgrade over the 27-29W charging speeds offered by last year's iPhone 15 series.
iPhone 16 series available for pre-order starting today:
Notably, the iPhone 16 series is available for pre-order starting today and will go on sale worldwide from September 20. The new iPhone 16 series doesn’t come with a ton of hardware-related improvements, and software was the star of the show at the new iPhone launch this time around.
Apple had unveiled its foray into artificial intelligence with the introduction of Apple Intelligence at this year’s WWDC 2024 event. However, most of the new AI features will not be shipping with the iOS 18 update in iPhone 16 and will instead roll out via software updates this year and early next year.
In terms of pricing, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus start at the same price as last year, which is ₹79,900 and ₹89,900 respectively. Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max have received a massive price drop over their predecessors (in India) and start at ₹1.19.900 and ₹1,44,900 respectively.
