According to Mark Gurman, Apple will reportedly start pre-installing the latest software available for an iPhone model before selling it through Apple stores. Often the models require an update after the customer unpacks it, as the new software update may not be available when the iPhone is packed. Some customers who are unaware of these details may be missing out on optimal performance from a newly purchased device due to older software. However, whether Apple will offer the same support to its other partner retailers is still unknown.
Gurman mentions in his latest weekly newsletter that Apple is working on a new system that will help the company update all iPhone models to the latest software before they are sold. This will reportedly happen while the packaging is still intact. Apple is said to be creating a custom pad-like device that can hold an iPhone box. The phone in the box will then probably be updated to the latest software available.
According to Gurman, the system Apple is working on can wirelessly power on the iPhone in question, update its software, and then turn off the power, all within the package. Gurman suggests that Apple is looking to roll out this technology in its official stores by the end of this year. It’s unclear whether the Cupertino-based tech giant will expand this feature to other partner stores.
Sometimes customers are not aware of the software updates available for their handsets and therefore often miss out on the optimal performance that can be achieved with the latest software. This new technology can help these people have the best possible user experience. For all current iPhone users, you can check if you have the latest software update by visiting Institutions > General > Software update and follow the step-by-step instructions on the screen.
Apple recently launched the iPhone 15 lineup, which includes the base iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The base model starts in India at a price of Rs. 79,990.
