Police received several 911 calls about shots fired in downtown Renton just before 1 a.m., police said.
Residents told police they heard the sounds of a fight followed by a large number of gunshots.
Upon arrival, officers found several victims with gunshot wounds, including a seriously injured man. While they were trying to treat the 32-year-old man from Tacoma, police and firefighters also encountered a large and excited crowd, forcing them to move the man, Renton police said.
The man later succumbed to his injuries; the other six victims suffered gunshot wounds of varying severity and were treated at local hospitals, the release said.
Police have not determined the cause of the altercation that led to the shooting and say they have made no arrests. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Renton Police.
