Mumbai:
Cinema draws inspiration from life, but sometimes it is the other way around. In a true incident straight out of Sanjay Dutt's Munna Bhai MBBS, a 22-year-old candidate for a job as a driver constable in the Mumbai Police has been arrested for allegedly using a micro hearing aid to cheat in the recruitment exam.
Kushna Dalvi, originally from Bhokardan in Maharashtra's Jalna district, took the test at a Raigad Army in Oshiwara in Mumbai yesterday when officers on surveillance found his actions suspicious. When they questioned him, they discovered that Kushna had a hearing aid in his left ear that allowed his two friends to provide answers to the questions in the test. The device is so small that it fits completely in the ear and is not visible from the outside. It connects to the phone via Bluetooth.
Police have found that Kushna's friends Sachin Bavaskar and Pradeep Rajput were calling him and asking him for answers through the micro hearing aid. A case has also been registered against Sachin and Pradeep.
Police have seized a SIM card, mobile phone and hearing aid from Kushna and further investigations are underway.
The cheating episode is reminiscent of the popular scene from the 2003 Bollywood film Munna Bhai MBBS, in which Sanjay Dutt, who plays a gangster appearing for a medical entrance exam, receives help from a doctor through a wired earphone.
