Suryakumar Yadav is enjoying brilliant form in the ongoing ODI series against Australia and this purple patch couldn’t have come at a better time as India gears up for the 2023 Cricket World Cup. Suryakumar’s selection for the World Cup was made with serious criticism from some fans and pundits for his poor performance in the format, but his recent blows have proven many critics wrong. Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh heaped praise on the explosive batsman and said he should play every match of the Cricket World Cup as he is a ‘pure match winner’.
“Surykaumar Yadav has to play all the matches. I don’t care who he replaces, but his name should be noted first and then the rest. You have a player who is a pure match-winner and can single-handedly turn the game into one.” -sided. He is the ace of spades. We’ve been thinking about a finisher… he’s the one. He should play at number 5 for India,” Harbhajan said on his official YouTube channel.
Earlier, he gave his opinion on why Sanju Samson was not picked for India’s ODI series against Australia.
“The exclusion of Sanju Samson has led to a lot of discussion. When you average 55 in ODIs and still aren’t part of the squad, that’s certainly strange. But I think Sanju was not selected because India already had two wicketkeepers, KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan. Both are also part of the World Cup squad,” he said.
