Anne Heche is still in hospital and in intensive care after a car she was driving on Friday crashed into a Los Angeles home and went up in flames.
“Anne is in ICU, she’s lucky she’s still alive. She has severe burns and has a long recovery ahead of her. Her team and her family are still trying to process what led to the crash,” a source close to Heche told DailyExpertNews on Saturday morning.
The vehicle was traveling at high speed when it went off the road and collided with a residence, Jeff Lee, a public information officer for the Los Angeles Police Department, told DailyExpertNews on Friday.
Heche was taken to a local hospital in critical condition by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics. It took firefighters more than an hour to “access, contain and completely extinguish the persistent flames in the badly damaged structure,” according to the LAFD.
No other injuries were reported.
DailyExpertNews has reached out to representatives for Heche for comment.
Heche first rose to fame on the soap opera “Another World,” where she played the dual role of twins Vicky Hudson and Marley Love from 1987 to 1991, earning a Daytime Emmy Award. She followed that up with movies like “Donnie Brasco,” “Six Days Seven Nights,” and “Wag the Dog.”
Her romantic relationship with Ellen DeGeneres in the late ’90s resulted in intense media attention, much to Heche’s frustration. In a 2021 interview with Page Six, Heche said she felt “blacklisted” after making their relationship public.
“I haven’t taken studio photos for ten years,” said Heche, who dated DeGeneres from 1997 to 2000.
Heche has appeared in numerous television series recently, including “The Brave”, “Quantico” and “Chicago PD”. She has several acting projects currently in post-production, according to her IMDB profile.
