Smita Kumari, a yoga instructor at Adani Group, has written history by establishing her second Guinness World Record. On February 17, she held the “Bhunamanasana” (greeting the earth) for an impressive 2 hours, 33 minutes and 37 seconds.
This was achieved under the expert guidance of senior yoga instructor Sagar Soni and with the support of the business care team of the Adani Group.
In Bhunamanasana, the practitioner usually takes a deep forward bend while the feet are kept wide apart, placed firmly on the floor or ground with hands. The body forms a reverse “V” shape and the legs are kept straight.
The purpose of the pose is to maintain this posture for a longer period, which requires strong core muscles, bone strength and flexibility in the hamstrings and back. The pose also requires mental focus and endurance, making it one of the more difficult postures to hold for a long time.
Mrs Kumari's performance follows her remarkable performance in 2023 when she established the Guinness World Record to hold the Samakonasana (Center Split) Pose for an impressive 3 hours, 10 minutes and 12 seconds.
The record was located in Ahmedabad on December 17, 2022 and earned her a Guinness World Records certificate, presented to her by Adani Group chairman, Gautam Adani.
Her journey in Yoga started her studies in Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, where she obtained a master's degree in Yoga, graduated with an impressive A+ figure in 2017. She also has a diploma in science, yoga of the morarji desai), where she is the top of the Deanthe Instuetute of Yoga.
Mrs. Kumari has been a full-time yoga instructor at Adani Group for more than five years and offers expert guidance in Yoga and Hatha Yoga. Before she came to Adani Group, she worked as a sports teacher in Delhi and also gave yoga and personal training at the Institute of Drive and Traffic Research, so that individuals help wellness practices to integrate into their daily routines.
