A strange incident from Bengaluru goes viral on social media after a passenger had recorded a confrontation with a car time program through payment methods. At an urgent on UPI payment, the passenger raised the refusal to pay cash for the ride after using the Ride-Hailing service.
He documented the events in a message on X and stated: “Auto man denied today morning. I said: I'm not going to pay cash.” After the refusal to pay in cash, a heated exchange followed, the passenger said: “He threatened a little … I started to record his convo.”
“Upi or I will not pay,” the passenger gave the blunt answer, knowing that the Autodriver had marked the ride as paid on the app. He refused to arrange the amount if the driver did not accept the UPI payment.
“Toon QR code or number or I walk away,” warned the passenger.
Further in operation that he decided to walk away without paying, he said the driver 'called someone and asked what he had to do. The man on the phone wanted to talk to me. I said, I will not talk to any person … He said, if you walk away guts. “
Social media respond
This message shared on July 21, collected 9,319 Lakh reactions and led online to indignation when users of social media criticized the passenger, which stated that the payment for the services provided is legally required.
A user wrote: “You are legally obliged to pay the available service. The car man is not required by law to have UPI. You are not a hero here.”
Another user noticed: “It is simple before you get into the car, just ask if they record it, in the same way as you would in a store without a visible QR code.”
A third comment was: “Congratulations. You are now a cheap thief who has taken and refuses to pay, steal his work. Why could you not have clarified this before you continued the ride and refused to continue if he didn't have UPI?”
A fourth user stated: “The harassment of poor drivers is the new standard in digital India. While industries are worth thousands of crores loans.[sic]”
A fifth user replied: “In contrast to most car riders in Chennai, it is preferable to get the payment via UPI, even if I offer to pay cash! A driver told him when I prefer why he prefers,” I will be tempted to give away if I have cash in the couch, “I will,” I will, “” “.”
