Patna:
A village in Bihar witnesses a huge row after a teacher at a school asked a girl's student to become his “girlfriend” as a “fee”. No police business has been submitted despite the girl who complains at the school. The school authorities have complained to the State Education department, but no action has yet been taken against the teacher.
Vikas Kumar – A teacher from the Kisan High School in the Kisanganj district – had called for the student of class 12 and harassed her several times. He even suggested that the two go to Siliguri and made vulgar suggestions, the girl claimed.
He quoted the example of Mahabharat's Archer Ekalavya, who had said goodbye to the thumb of his right hand to please Dronacharya, which he considered his teacher. Why can't his student follow this example and be his girlfriend, he had questioned, she claimed.
Furious, the girl had informed her teachers and filed a formal complaint against him at the school.
Sources said that the teacher had even made similar positions to a female teacher from the school with whom he is now married.
Now that a complaint was filed, director Shafiq Ahmed informed the district education agency. But the Education Office undertook no other action than calling a statement by Vikar Kumar.
The teacher still has to answer and serves as a surveiller in the entrance exam at a private school in Kishanganj.
Asked about the allegations against him, he refused to respond.
The lack of action made the villagers furious, who held a Dharna outside the school yesterday. The police had to be called in to tackle the situation.
Asked for the case, the district magistrate said they are taking the case seriously. “After research, action would be taken,” he said.
