Lucknow:
Two days after chaos broke out at a party in Uttar Pradesh's Majhawan organized by a BJP MP, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav said the 'sheep war' has been recorded in history.
“An incident in your constituency has become very popular. I didn't know a sheep war had taken place here too. We have seen different types of wars. This sheep war has been recorded in history,” Mr Yadav said at a meeting in Majhawan.
His joke about the 'sheep war' referred to a party organized by BJP MP Vinod Kumar Bind at his office in Mirzapur. Chaos broke out at the party when guests claimed that pieces of meat were missing from the mutton gravy. They even hit one of the servers. Senior BJP members later intervened and brought the situation under control.
While Mr Bind has not spoken on the matter, The Times of India has quoted someone who manages the MP's office as claiming that the commotion was caused by some young men drinking at a nearby liquor shop in the province.
The Samajwadi chief joked about the incident while targeting the BJP ahead of the November 20 poll in the constituency.
“When he (Yogi Adityanath) realized that the public was not supporting him, he put the officers and employees in front. But the officers and employees know in their hearts that the Bharatiya Janata Party will not be able to survive now,” he said. yesterday during a meeting in Majhawan.
Majhawan in Mirzapur district has been vacant since Mr Bind, who was the NISHAD Party MLA from here, was elected MP on a BJP ticket. The Samajwadi Party has fielded Jyoti Bind, daughter of Bhadohi MP Ramesh Bind, from the seat against the BJP's Suchismita Maurya.
